What Happens to Your Pantry When You Cook
Planning, cooking and eating are three different things
Putting a meal on your plan doesn’t take anything out of your pantry. Finishing the recipe, or marking a planned meal as cooked, does: that’s when Bhansa takes out the ingredients you used. Adding the meal to your food log is a separate step again, and it records what you ate. Each one happens only when you do it.
Amounts follow the servings you cook
Bhansa scales the recipe’s measured amounts to the number of servings you made. Say you cook four servings of curry and it uses 600 g of a 1 kg pack of chicken. Your pantry now shows 400 g, ready for the next meal.
Every cook leaves a receipt
Pantry has a Recent Deductions list showing exactly what came out and when. Restore a receipt and those exact amounts go back. You can also tap Undo Cooked on your plan. And if you tap the same button twice by accident, the ingredients still only come out once.
When Bhansa asks you to check
Some things Bhansa won’t guess at: optional ingredients, amounts that are only estimates, and anything it can’t confidently match to your pantry or convert between units. Those are left alone and listed under “Check pantry amounts” so you can sort them out yourself. We’d rather you glance at the garam masala than have the app quietly subtract a made-up number.
Your next meal starts from the updated pantry
When you plan again or review your shopping list, Bhansa works from what’s actually left. Things you already have still appear on the list, marked In Pantry, so you can see what’s covered and what you still need to buy.
