Batch Cooking and Planned Leftovers
Cook once, eat a few times
When Bhansa plans your week, it can make one dinner a batch cook and set servings aside for a meal later in the week. In the weekly check-in you mark which nights are for cooking, for leftovers or for eating out, and Bhansa fits the leftovers around them. For example: make four servings of curry on Monday, eat two, and the other two are planned for Wednesday’s lunch.
Your shopping list only counts the cook once
The ingredients for the batch go on your list for the cooking day. The leftovers day adds nothing extra, and it doesn’t take anything out of your pantry either. Reheating curry you already made isn’t a new batch of raw ingredients, so Bhansa doesn’t treat it like one.
Made extra without planning it?
When you finish cooking, Bhansa asks if there are leftovers. It saves them as servings to the Leftovers tab in your pantry, with a three-day date you can change, so you can see what’s cooked and waiting to be eaten.
Leftovers vs. spare ingredients
Leftovers are food that’s already cooked. Spare ingredients, like half a bag of spinach, still need cooking. Keep those in your pantry with their amounts and expiry dates so your next plan can use them up. Both help you waste less, just in different ways.
Logging what you eat
Cooking doesn’t log anything for you. Once you’ve cooked a planned meal, it’s waiting in that day’s food log with an Add button. Tap it when you eat, and adjust the amount to what you actually had.
